Mommy, mother, momma, mom, mama.. So many terms but how do we define motherhood?!
In my opinion motherhood is not only being a female parent nor the capacity to bear a child, motherhood is the spirit of being a mother. Yes, a female parent can be called a mother but motherhood is a complex word, thus it is challenging to define motherhood to suite universal definition. The word "mother" often is given to a biological parent but anyone can be a mother even not to their own child. There are adoptive mothers that can show affection to a child even they are not related, there are proven cases that shows that even unrelated family can be warmly attached and I do believe any female being that fulfills the role of raising a child, anyone who shows passion and love to any child can be considered a mother.
Here are some motherhood quotes to ponder on:
“The mother loves her child most divinely, not when she surrounds him with comfort and anticipates his wants, but when she resolutely holds him to the highest standards and is content with nothing less than his best." -Hamilton Wright Mabie
"Who ran to help me when I fell,
And would some pretty story tell,
Or kiss the place to make it well?
"When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child. " -Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty
