Samoan Tsunami

Samoa- Sept 29, 2009, a powerful tsunami struck the place, leaving casualties and many missing people. People and vehicles were swept out by a fast-churning tsunami. Death toll still rising and property loss was extreme. Today many workers gave up hope on finding the missing people, while thousand of homeless citizens are living in campsites. Samoa declared a national disaster after Tuesday's giant 8.0 magnitude earthquake, the worst in 90 years which pounded sleepy South Pacific villages and popular tourist resorts.

Philippines on Super Typhoon Alert

Manila, Philippines- The country is now on alert of the coming super typhoon that is threatening to arrive this weekends. Parma, with local name Pepeng was gaining strength and churning towards the Southeast and was expected to hit Luzon by Saturday. The region was then again on alert after a devastating Ketsana typhoon, local name Ondoy, which left many 277 casualties and millions stragglers from the deadly flood.The typhoon was also felt in Vietnam and Cambodia which killed a hundred or more.

Two Earthquakes hits Indonesia

Pandang, Indonesia- Last Wednesday, September 30, 2009 a magnitude of 7.6 hits Indonesia which killed a count of 531 people and still expected to rise while another 440 was seriously injured. The region was not yet recovering when it was jolted again by another earthquake causing damages but luckily with no casualties. The quake severed roads and cut off power and communications, and the extent of damage in surrounding areas was still unclear.
